If you only have a few hours left before your flight, the easiest and less consuming option for you is to take a ride around the Hotel Zone. If you don’t want to wait around at the Airport, the Hotel Zone is a nice place to walk or drive around. You get to see the Nichupté Lagoon and also the Craft Market. Starting from Punta Nizuc and coming back from Km 3 of the Hotel Zone, it can take about 2 hours or more, depending if you make any stops. We recommend you avoid driving downtown because of the traffic. Do know that the hours of more traffic in the Hotel Zone are, in the morning from 8-10am and in the afternoon, from 5-7pm.

Talking transportation

For trasnportation, taxis are available at the Cancun Airport but their fee is higher than normal due to the location. UBER is not allowed to enter the Airport area, so it’s not a viable option…

We recommend you take private transportation, it is easier and if you let them know, they’ll take you back to the airport right on time.
