Vijay Karnik is a Retired Indian Air Force (IAF) Wing Commander who is remembered for his significant role during the 1971 war. Now the Bollywood director Abhishek Dudhaiya is all set to bring forward the history starring Ajay Devgn in the lead role of a squadron leader.

The actor will be seen in his upcoming movie ‘Bhuj: The Pride of India’ which is based on the true event of India’s fascinating war-related stories. Ajay Devgn will be appearing in the role of Squadron Leader, Vijay Karnik and he was in charge of Bhuj airport during the 1971 Indo-Pak war.

When the airstrip was destroyed by the Pakistan bombing, the brave Vijay rebuild the destroyed Indian Air Force strip with the help of 300 fearless local women so that the flight carrying Indian Army officers could land safely. This incident is also termed as India’s ‘Pearl Harbour Movement’.

He has served as Indian Air Force Wing Commander and during 1971, Indo-Pak war the officer is remembered for his brave action in rebuilding the destroyed airstrip. He took the support of 300 local women in building the destroyed Indian Air force strip and that movement is remembered as the Indian Pearl Harbour Movement.
